Eat Smart Date: A Delicious Lesson in Health and Fitness
Collaborative Learning Experience
As part of their inquiry into the "Who We Are" unit, IB PYP 4 students joined forces with MKids Year 3 for an engaging and educational "Eat Smart" event. This collaborative initiative emphasized health and fitness, allowing students to delve into the world of nutritious eating while honing essential life skills.
Hands-On Cooking Fun
The hands-on experience was centered around creating delicious and nutritious fireless recipes using ingredients sourced from home. Students worked in groups, applying their creativity and teamwork skills to develop meals that were both tasty and healthy. The event provided an excellent opportunity for students to learn about the importance of healthy eating habits, while also practicing good hygiene and safety. Participants donned head caps, hand gloves, and aprons, ensuring a clean and safe cooking environment.
Promoting Sustainable Goals
The "Eat Smart" event was more than just a cooking activity; it was a celebration of the UN Sustainable Development Goals of Zero Hunger and Good Health and Well-being. By promoting a deeper understanding of nutrition and its impact on overall well-being, the event inspired students to make informed lifestyle choices and develop a lifelong appreciation for healthy food.
A Resounding Success
The success of the "Eat Smart" event highlights the value of integrating health and fitness education into the curriculum. It not only fostered a love for nutritious eating but also empowered students with the knowledge and skills to make healthier choices. This initiative underscores the commitment of Manchester International School to nurturing well-rounded, health-conscious individuals through engaging and impactful learning experiences.
