Homeroom inquiry session
The homeroom inquiry session is a key component of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), designed to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and independent learning.
We had a homeroom inquiry session involving parents and students of PYP1 and PYP5. We celebrated the international festivals in a single day in alignment with the unit of inquiry of PYP1 & PYP5 to develop globally-minded individuals who are open to other perspectives and cultures. It provided a platform for students to practice empathy, tolerance, and inclusivity, as they learn about the values and customs of people from different parts of the world.
The event was a hub of multiculturalism, with various booths representing different international festivals. Each station was dedicated to a specific festival, such as Chuseok- Harvest moon festival of South Korea, UK's Glastonbury Festival, New Orleans's new orleans mardi gras, Peru's Inti Raymi, South Africa's Brai Day, Australia's Moomba Festival, Antartica's Midwinter Day, China's Chinese New Year, Japan's Cherry Blossomand showcasing the key elements of the celebration.
These elements can include traditional foods, music, dance, arts, and cultural artifacts, creating a sensory-rich environment for students to explore. The final parade on international festivals led by students along with parents and teachers was a joyful expression of cultural pride, on the other hand, it promoted cultural awareness, unity, and global citizenship.
